Aubrey House

Aubrey House is the heart of boarding at Clayesmore Prep, providing a warm, nurturing and lively community for around 50 girls and boys. Located at the centre of the Prep campus, the House offers a true home-from-home where pupils feel safe, supported and surrounded by friends every day.

Location & Facilities

Aubrey House is ideally placed within the Prep School grounds, giving pupils easy access to classrooms, sports pitches, play areas and common rooms. Inside, the House features welcoming dormitories, cosy social spaces, and shared areas for games, activities and relaxation. Pupils also enjoy plenty of outdoor space, including gardens and the wider Dorset countryside on their doorstep.

Boarding Community

The atmosphere in Aubrey House is lively and inclusive, reflecting the energy of Prep School life. Evenings are filled with fun activities such as baking, karaoke, film nights, games, tree climbing and barbecues. At weekends, children enjoy trips and expeditions to exciting destinations like the coast, Dorset Water Park, Monkey World, or local museums. The community spirit helps pupils build friendships, develop independence and feel part of something special.

House Staff

Aubrey House is led by devoted Houseparents, Jess Chisholm and Tom Brown, who live on-site and provide round-the-clock care and guidance. They are supported by a dedicated team of matrons, nursing staff and tutors, ensuring that every child is known as an individual and has access to both academic and pastoral support.

Boarding Life & Activities

Life in Aubrey House balances routine with fun. Pupils enjoy structured prep times, shared meals and bedtime routines, alongside plenty of opportunities to play, explore and relax with friends. Sundays are reserved for adventure, with trips that broaden horizons and create lasting memories. This combination of structure and freedom helps pupils thrive both academically and personally.
