Design Technology

Pupils interested in design and technology will be thrilled with Clayesmore's DT department - which often takes peoples' breath away.

Situated in the heart of the school, the department is fully equipped with a huge range of tools, machinery, 3D printers, computers and much more - all of which pupils start to use in Year 9. Those who choose to take DT as part of their GCSE programme will be fully proficient by Year 11, in readiness for advanced courses for A Level.

Teachers task pupils with a wide range of design briefs and pupils are challenged to find solutions to problems whilst also being prompted to create beautiful and useful objects and designs.

There are two routes through DT - one for those interested in Graphic Design or Architecture and the other for those interested in Product Design. Both will spark the desire to produce outstanding 2D and 3D creations via the use of a range of interesting materials and computer aided design.
