Co-Curricular Opportunities for Years 9–11
At Clayesmore, education goes beyond the classroom. Our co-curricular programme for Years 9–11 is designed to complement academic learning, helping pupils develop skills, confidence, and character that prepare them for higher education, careers, and life beyond school.
All Senior School pupils take part in LEX on Saturdays, our flagship programme offering a wide range of practical, engaging, and skills-based activities. From forensics, robotics, and flight training to TEFL, referee and umpiring qualifications, first aid, self-defence, and outdoor adventures, pupils gain recognised qualifications while building leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
LEX Futures in Years 9 supports careers and personal development through business challenges, debate, critical thinking, and service projects, helping pupils explore potential careers while developing resilience, purpose, and employability skills. Pupils also have opportunities to volunteer in the community, take part in the Model United Nations, and complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, fostering independence, social responsibility, and global awareness.
Creative and performing arts are celebrated at Clayesmore. Pupils can learn an instrument, join the choir, ensembles, or bands, and participate in a school theatre production, whether on stage or backstage, developing creativity, collaboration, and confidence.
For Year 11, LEX Think sessions provide focused support for examinations, enhancing critical thinking and analytical skills. Across all activities, pupils also gain career-ready skills, from CV writing and interview techniques to entrepreneurship, ensuring they leave school academically capable, personally confident, and ready to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
