Our dedicated, specialist team of English Language teachers tailor support to those who need additional language skills. Students are encouraged to develop their skills at their own pace to ensure that they feel comfortable and can benefit from all that is on offer at the School.
We expect International pupils entering Clayesmore to have a minimum B1 level of English.
We use the Common European Framework (CEFR) standard for describing language ability to help us to identify a student’s level, monitor progress and set learning priorities. Students are able to sit their Cambridge Exams in school because we are a Cambridge English Examination Centre and we encourage pupils to gain the relevant language entry requirements and qualifications stipulated by institutions of higher education.
The International English Language Testing System, or IELTS™, is an international standardised test of English language proficiency for non-native English language speakers. It is the world’s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration.
