Clayesmore Prep is a small, nurturing school with a warm, family feel that is ambitious in every way for all our pupils.

Our weeks are packed and varied, with all the academic rigour you would expect which is complemented with creativity, music, sport and forest school. We love the outdoors and encourage learning outside in the green surroundings as much as possible.

A Daily Adventure

Clayesmore was founded in 1896, by Lex Devine. A man ahead of his time in terms of his vision for education. His guiding principle was to offer ‘an all-round education’; he understood the importance of a traditional academic education but he also recognised that, without a strong foundation of values and attitudes, it was nothing. That ethos remains at the heart of a Clayesmore education today.

A day in the life...

No two days are ever the same at Clayesmore Prep! Our days are busy, fun, challenging and varied. Every pupil will enjoy plenty of fresh air and outdoor activities to counterbalance the concentration and commitment they put into their classroom work. We want our pupils to foster a love of learning, a spirit of adventure and an interest in all the wonderful things around them to help ignite their passions and develop their talents.

Making every day count

The Prep day starts with assembly twice a week, often taken in the Chapel or with tutor time to set every child up for a great day of learning.

Engaging and varied learning

Each year group enjoys a fun and varied timetable, from languages, science, DT and music.

LEX@Lunch

Apart from a delicious lunch, lunchtime at Clayesmore Prep is bursting with a fun packed schedule of LEX activities. No matter your interest there is an activity to try, from tennis to horse riding, Lego club and diamond art or maybe textiles or survival skills?

Sporting afternoons

The Prep school participates in inter-school fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon. We take a ‘sport for all’ approach at Clayesmore and aim to include as many children in competitive matches as possible, as often as possible. We encourage parents to spectate and enjoy our wonderful match teas!
