Senior girls’ house, King’s

To commence September 2024

Located in the beautiful Dorset countryside, Clayesmore is a well-established boarding and day school with a warm and happy atmosphere, and is well known for its excellence in pastoral care.

Boarding is a major part of Clayesmore School where we provide a nurturing and caring home away from home.  Our house staff are approachable, positive and warm people who are able to establish a healthy rapport with pupils, staff and parents.

This is a senior boarding position which can provide excellent experience on a career path into a senior leadership position in the future.  It is essential for the successful candidate to have strong leadership skills and pastoral experience with pupils aged 13 to 18, preferably gained within a boarding environment.

Our houseparents have a reduced timetabled teaching role within the school.  Any subject and contribution to the wider life of the school will be considered during the recruitment process.

The Head invites applications from highly motivated and experienced individuals to fulfil this important role at an exciting point in the life of Clayesmore.  Reporting to the Head, the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

In order to be considered, applicants must possess strong academic credentials and proven leadership skills. Additionally, they must demonstrate the vision and initiative to ensure that the sixth form at Clayesmore remains innovative, relevant and attractive for our pupils, as well as those joining from elsewhere, at this crucial stage in their educational journey.

Clear, effective communication skills are essential for this role as well as the ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with staff, pupils and parents.

We are looking for a creative and imaginative Teacher of Science to students in Key Stage 2 and 3. 

Applications are welcome from new or experienced teachers. We offer considerable support with professional development, including help with a PGCE.

The ability and enthusiasm to contribute to the extra-curricular life of this busy boarding and day school is important too. The school is set in delightful grounds and Dorset offers an excellent environment in which to live and work.

Clayesmore School is located in the village of Iwerne Minster in the shadow of the Iron Age Fort of Hambledon Hill. The breath-taking scenery isn’t really what makes working at Clayesmore a joy. We have an exciting opportunity for a Second Chef to join our team of talented and experienced staff. Clayesmore prides itself in providing a comprehensive, in-house fresh food service to its pupils and staff.

The ideal candidate will be experienced and confident in high volume catering and be flexible, and able to work as part of a team.

This is a great opportunity to work in catering with primarily daytime shifts. Benefits include a non-contributory pension scheme, Death in Service benefits, a free meal each day and free membership of the Clayesmore Sports Facilities. 6 weeks holiday per year plus bank holidays.

Graduate Assistant (Senior School)

To commence September 2024

An enthusiastic and committed Graduate Assistant is required for our Senior School on a fixed term contract.  This exciting opportunity includes a full and active role in the pupils’ games programme, administrative support for our Senior Academic staff, and pastoral care of our boarders.

The successful candidate will play a full and active role in the pupils’ games programme and supporting the Girls’ Games with the provision of training, matches and school events. The successful candidate would have demonstrated proven ability in at least one of the following: Netball, Hockey or Tennis.

The candidate will also provide occasional classroom cover and, where appropriate, may be offered some teaching opportunities. This position would suit a recent graduate looking for experience prior to teacher training or seeking a short-term post prior to embarking on another career path. 

 This is a live-in position that will involve some evening and weekend work within the boarding house.
