Sport and Wellbeing

Every child, not just the most gifted or enthusiastic, is given the opportunity to compete.

Clayesmore pupils participate in a wide range of sports which, for boys, include football, rugby, hockey, tennis, athletics, swimming and cross country. Girls participate in hockey, cricket, netball, swimming, athletics, cross country and tennis. They are also now encouraged to try football and rugby in the younger years. We also have a mountain bike track, squash courts and a dance and gymnastics studio in our school sports centre. Children also compete at a high level in equestrian sports and skiing.

Participating in sport and fixtures is compulsory for all children at Clayesmore Prep. We believe the lessons pupils learn through team and individual sports are invaluable and carry through all aspects of academic and personal life. Win or lose, the experience of teamwork, pride, humility, doing your best and encouraging your team mates are attributes which will be carried through life. They give children resilience and determination, coupled with the ability, to be gracious in victory and defeat.

Matches are played on Wednesdays and some Saturday afternoons and parents are very welcome to watch home or away games. Clayesmore is famed for its delicious match teas and you are encouraged to come to these, chat to staff and meet other parents.
