Senior Boarding Routine

The routines of the houses may differ slightly from each other, but essentially follow this pattern: 

07:30 - 08:15 - Wake up, line (roll call) and breakfast

08:30 - Morning registration in tutor groups or boarding house 

08:30 - 17.15 - Normal school activities

17:30 - Supper 

18:30 - Evening line (roll call) in the boarding house 

19:00 - 20:00 - Prep for Y9 in the UN Room 

19:00 - 21:00 - Prep for Y10-13 in the boarding house

21:30 - 21:45 - Quiet time and lights out for Y9

21:45 - 22:00 - Quiet time and lights out for Y10

22:00 - 22:15 - Quiet time and lights out for Y11

22:30 - Lights out for Sixth Form

This programme varies at the weekends including the time boarders go to bed.

Saturday – lights out is 15 minutes later and there is no quiet time.

Sunday – evening timings are often 15 minutes earlier to prepare for the school week

A Balanced Boarding Routine

While each house may introduce slight variations to suit its individual atmosphere, this structured routine ensures consistency, wellbeing, and a healthy balance between academic focus and rest. The daily schedule is designed to support pupils in developing good habits, time management skills, and a sense of community.

Weekend routines offer a more relaxed pace. On Saturdays, bedtimes are extended by 15 minutes and quiet time is not required, giving pupils more freedom to unwind after the school week. On Sundays, timings are brought forward slightly to help boarders settle and prepare for the week ahead.

This structure creates a dependable rhythm, helping pupils feel secure, supported, and ready to make the most of their school life—academically, socially, and personally.
