We are delighted to share that Charlie, Year 7, has been selected as a finalist in the youth section of the New Writing Scratch Festival at Shaftesbury Arts Centre, with his original play, The Memory Depot.
Written under the mentorship of Mrs Chinnock, Charlie’s achievement is a wonderful recognition of his creativity, imagination and emerging talent as a young writer.
The Memory Depot is a short script exploring a magical place where people can go to lose unwanted memories or rediscover ones they have lost. This imaginative premise offers a fascinating starting point for a story about memory, identity and the experiences that shape us.
The festival will take place at Shaftesbury Arts Centre on Saturday 28 November, from 3–5pm, where Charlie’s play will be directed and performed by the SAC Youth Group. The event will also feature a Development Award, offering the winning writer the opportunity to develop their play towards a full production in 2027, supported by Shaftesbury Arts Centre, Back Room Theatre and experienced theatre practitioners.
This is an exciting opportunity for Charlie to see his work brought to life on stage and share his writing with a wider audience. We are incredibly proud of his achievement and look forward to following his progress.
Congratulations to Charlie! We wish him every success at the festival and encourage our school community to come along, support this talented young writer and celebrate the creativity of the next generation of theatre-makers.
