At Clayesmore, creativity is part of everyday life. Across Art, Photography, Design Technology, Music, Drama and beyond, students are encouraged to be curious, explore new ideas and find their own ways to express themselves.
We believe creativity is not simply about producing something beautiful. It is about asking questions, trying something different, solving problems, taking risks and seeing possibilities where others might not.
Our Creative Arts are places where individuality matters. Students develop skills, confidence and the freedom to experiment, whether they are working with a paintbrush, a camera, a piece of timber, an instrument or a stage.
There is no single definition of creativity at Clayesmore. We encourage every student to discover what they can create, where their ideas can take them and, most importantly, what makes their creative voice their own.
Art and Design

The environment in which our students are growing up is fast, impatient and forever disconnected from real experiences. Art and Design at Clayesmore will give our students the opportunity not only to look but to see, question, challenge, understand, reflect, analyse critically and articulate creatively whilst building their confidence and enabling new skills.
Art and Design offers an exciting opportunity for students to explore a wide range of different disciplines, including Fine Art, Design, Sculpture, Ceramics, Craft, Textiles or Lens Based approaches. The pathway is designed to encourage enthusiasm, resilience and a commitment to the subject. Students will be taught to develop their own creative path, supported by workshops, studio practice, contextual research and gallery visits.

Photography

Photography at Clayesmore is about more than taking a good photograph. It is about learning to look closely, experiment with ideas and see the world from your own perspective.
Our A Level Photography course is open to anyone with a passion for photographic image-making; students do not need to have studied Art or Photography at GCSE. Through digital and alternative photographic processes, students develop a tactile, hands-on relationship with the photographic image.
They are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks and explore different ways of working, building the confidence to develop their own ideas and visual style. The result is strong, individual work that reflects each student’s interests, imagination and perspective.
At Clayesmore, there is no single way to be a photographer. We give students the freedom to find their own.
Design Technology

Design Technology at Clayesmore is about turning ideas into reality. Students are encouraged to think creatively, solve problems and develop practical solutions to real-world challenges.
From the first sketch to the finished product, students learn to design, make, test and refine. They work with a range of materials, tools and technologies, developing both technical skills and the confidence to experiment.
We encourage students to question how things work and consider how they could work better. Whether designing a product, developing a prototype or creating something entirely new, they are challenged to think independently and find their own solutions.
The result is a subject that combines creativity with precision, imagination with practical skill, and ambitious ideas with the determination to make them happen.
