In the Sixth Form, most students take 3 subjects from a range of A Levels and BTECs. There are 5 double periods each day so when not in an academic lesson, Year 12 are in Supervised Personal Study; a chance to complete independent work and consolidate understanding.
During Year 13, students are expected to learn to manage their own time and are given “free” lessons where they can work in the library or the Business Centre. They may also spend time in the gym or the Writer’s Block cafe, providing they are keeping up with their studies.
Each morning starts with either a House Assembly, Tutor registration or a Year Group Assembly; a chance to think about the day ahead, get organised and reflect on the world outside Clayesmore. Lessons are from 8.50 until 4.20 Monday to Friday and after school there are chances to take part in extra-curricular activities, or to see teachers for some extra academic support. Buses for day students leave at 5.25.
After school on Friday, the community comes together for a Chapel Assembly, a chance to reflect and be thankful.
Sixth Form students have games lessons on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoon. Extra-curricular activities take place at lunchtime, after school and on Saturday mornings.
