Our Year 7 and 8 pupils enjoyed a fascinating field trip to Knoll Beach as part of their topic on ecosystems and adaptations.
During the visit, they explored three different coastal habitats, investigating the environmental conditions, the impact of human activity and the distribution of different species. It was a fantastic opportunity to take their learning outside the classroom and see these ecological concepts in action.
The pupils used a range of scientific sampling techniques, including transect lines and quadrats, to investigate the habitats and record species distributions. They also collected environmental data using a data logger, developing valuable practical skills along the way.
It was an engaging and hands-on day of learning, giving pupils the chance to apply their classroom knowledge to a real-world environment while developing their skills as young scientists.
