Pre-Prep (Reception to Year 2)
Clayesmore Pre-Prep is a joyful and nurturing environment where children take their first confident steps in education. From Reception through to Year 2, pupils are encouraged to be curious, kind, and confident, with every day offering opportunities for discovery, creativity, and play-based learning that builds strong foundations for the future.
At the heart of the Pre-Prep is a warm, supportive approach where every child is known and noticed as an individual. Teaching focuses on developing confidence, independence, and a love of learning, while ensuring children feel secure and happy in their school journey. Learning is carefully tailored to meet the needs of each child, helping them to grow both academically and personally.
The curriculum is lively and engaging, designed to spark imagination and curiosity across all areas of learning. Early literacy and numeracy are introduced in creative and practical ways, supported by storytelling, hands-on activities, and purposeful play. Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and develop a strong sense of achievement in everything they do.
Outdoor learning plays a central role in the Pre-Prep experience. Through Forest School, swimming, outdoor play, and a range of educational visits, children learn in natural environments that build resilience, teamwork, and independence. These experiences help bring learning to life and create lasting memories.
With a number of different afternoon pick up times, starting from 3.15pm, we are able to accommodate busy family lives whilst providing further opportunities for the children in Clayesmore Pre-Prep.
As part of the wider Clayesmore family, the Pre-Prep provides a seamless transition into Prep and beyond. With outstanding pastoral care and strong relationships between staff, pupils, and families, children are fully supported at every stage of their early education, ensuring they are well prepared for the next steps in their learning journey.
