House Music 2026

This week, we closed the half term with two fantastic House Music Competitions across the Senior and Prep School.

Prep School

The Prep School came together for a toe-tapping House Music competition, with a fantastic Western theme bringing plenty of energy, laughter and musical talent to the stage!

Each house embraced the country spirit with their own brilliant performance. Seddons got everyone moving with 9 to 5, Edward-Stuarts took us down Country Roads, Rosses performed Jolene, and Everetts entertained the audience with The Gambler.

The fun didn’t stop with the pupils! Parents were invited to join in with a lively rendition of She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain, before the whole school brought the event to a spectacular close with a singalong to Beyoncé’s TEXAS HOLD ’EM.

After an afternoon full of enthusiasm, teamwork and toe-tapping tunes, Everetts were crowned the winners! Congratulations to all four houses for making it such a memorable celebration of music and house spirit. Yeehaw!

Senior School

The school came together for a truly memorable House Music competition, filled with incredible performances, infectious energy and moments that will stay with us for a long time. From powerful ensemble performances to moving solo pieces, every house brought something special to the stage, making it a fantastic celebration of music and teamwork.

One of the standout highlights was Jonny’s energetic composing, which captured the spirit of the competition and helped Gate secure the award for Best Composer. The audience was also treated to a series of poignant and expressive solo performances from Zara, Luc, Logan and Eleni, each showcasing their individuality and musical talent. Zara’s outstanding performance earned Kings the award for Best Solo.

The ensemble performances were equally impressive, taking the audience on a musical journey from Jerusalem to the Arctic Monkeys and ABBA. Each house brought its own personality and style to the stage, creating an exciting mix of sounds and genres. Manor’s electric Arctic Monkeys ensemble particularly impressed the judges, winning Best Ensemble.

Of course, no House Music competition would be complete without the four fantastic unison pieces! Each house delivered a memorable performance:

  • Kings: Can’t Stop This Feeling
  • Gate: Right Back Where We Started
  • Manor: Candy
  • Wolverton: Love Me Like You

The unison performances were a brilliant demonstration of teamwork, coordination and house pride. Wolverton’s performance of Love Me Like You stood out, earning them the award for Best Unison.

With their fantastic unison performance and an impressive contribution to the competition, Wolverton were crowned the overall winners! Their success was a wonderful end to an event that celebrated not only musical ability but also collaboration, confidence and the power of performing together.

Congratulations to Wolverton on their well-deserved victory, and a huge well done to every student who performed, composed, rehearsed and supported their house. House Music was a brilliant reminder that music brings people together, creates lasting memories and gives everyone a chance to shine.

What a performance, what a competition, and what a fantastic celebration of music across the school!
