Years 12–13 Curriculum Overview
Students take three subjects made up of A Levels and/or BTECs.
A Levels are offered in Art, Design Technology / Product Design, Music, Photography, English Literature, French, Spanish, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Business, Geography, History, Psychology. And BTECs in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Sport, Creative Digital Media and Music Technology.
BTECs are vocational subjects strongly related to work. They are assessed, usually, via 2 exams and 2 coursework modules. Students do very well in them.
Students may also do an Extended Project Qualification if they would like to do so, which is worth half an A Level but which universities value very highly. Those wishing to apply for Art School, Medical School or to Oxbridge are encouraged to do so and supported in their preparation for these applications.
During the timetabled week, all Year 12s also undertake some community service with local projects and have careers lessons and lessons to help them navigate the university entrance process.
