Here’s your weekly sport recap.
Prep Sport
There has been plenty of exciting sporting action across the age groups this week, with our boys’ and mixed teams taking to the pitch for tag rugby, while the girls enjoyed a series of hockey fixtures.
Our U9A and U8/U9 mixed tag rugby teams faced FSM, Embley and Durlston, showing plenty of courageous running, strong tackling and some brilliant try-scoring. Ruby impressed in her first tag rugby match, demonstrating excellent positional and tactical awareness, while Tamsin scored lots of tries!
On Wednesday, our girls’ hockey teams took on Hanford, with some excellent performances across the age groups. The U13B and U10A teams secured impressive wins, 6–3 and 3–1 respectively. There were also some standout individual contributions, including Tilly’s confident saves in goal for the U13B, Liv’s tremendous work ethic and last-minute goal for the U13A, and Lily’s confident skills and impressive running down the wings for the U10A.
Despite some challenging results elsewhere, all the girls showed great determination, teamwork and sportsmanship. Well done to everyone who represented Clayesmore!
U14 Girls’ Hockey Reach Regional Finals!
Congratulations to our U14 Girls’ Hockey team, who have qualified in second place for the Regional Hockey Finals, taking place in Bristol at the end of the month!
Competing against five schools in the County Tournament, the girls put in a fantastic performance, losing just one match by a single goal. They were also the only team to play four back-to-back matches, completing an impressive 80 minutes of hockey.
Miss Chiverton and Mrs Chisholm were incredibly proud of the team’s determination, teamwork and commitment. The girls worked their socks off right up until the final whistle, thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and are now looking forward to the challenge of the Regional Finals. Well done, girls!

There have been some excellent performances across our Senior School rugby programme, with pupils continuing to demonstrate commitment, teamwork and an exciting brand of rugby.
The U16s produced an excellent display against Gillingham, combining attacking flair with a resolute defensive performance. There was some outstanding rugby on show, with the team demonstrating confidence, creativity and coming away with an excellent result. .
The U14s enjoyed an inclusive fixture against QE Wimborne, providing a valuable opportunity for pupils to develop their game, build confidence and enjoy competitive rugby. There were outstanding individual performances throughout, with all involved contributing positively to an enjoyable afternoon.
The U15s faced Poole Grammar in a cup fixture. Although they came away having lost the game against a strong opposition, the team showed tremendous resilience and character, never giving up and continuing to compete throughout. They also produced some excellent tries, demonstrating their attacking ability and determination.
Across all three fixtures, it has been particularly pleasing to see pupils embracing the challenges of competitive sport, supporting one another and representing Clayesmore with pride.
