Year 9 Nathaniel conquers the roads of Isle of Man

Mark Newland, Housemaster of Gate, writes:

Nathaniel (Y9, Gate) participated in the English Cycling Youth Championships in the Isle of Man at the end of last month. The three-day national event tests the riders on a range of courses over the whole of the island, and consists of time-trials, hill climbs and longer events of up to 39km.

Despite being involved in an accident on Day 2, Nathaniel showed great determination and courage in completing the race, and thankfully was given the all clear after a check up in A&E. His results of 12th in the 1.25km trial (time: 1min 57sec), 27th on Day 2 and 30th on Day 3 meant that Nathaniel had a final position of 26 out of 56. As a result of this he has been selected for the British Cycling North West Tour in Morecambe over the end of May Bank Holiday weekend.

A great achievement, and one which we are all very proud of across the whole school.
