Year 12 pupil, George, completes Devizes to Westminster Race

Another Clayesmore pupil took full advantage of the Easter weekend by completing the Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race. George, in Year 12, took part in the four day race which starts in Devizes in Wiltshire and finishes just downstream of Westminster Bridge in London, opposite the Houses of Parliament. The event has been run over the Easter weekend since 1948 and is 125 miles long, the first 52 miles of which run along the Kennet and Avon Canal and the second section on the River Thames.

The race is a real test of skill, physics and mental stamina and perseverance, and George finished a creditable fifth in the Veteran/Junior category, in a total time of 26 hours, 12 minutes and 42 seconds.
