Winning OCs and a sunny summer party
Last Saturday was even busier than normal at Iwerne. In addition to all the usual maches, the Old Clayesmorian football team took on the School’s finest in a bid to win the much-coveted Drummond Cup and, in perfect conditions (if a little warm) they did it! With Ollie Fairchild (Devine, 2010) acting as captain, the team beat the boys 2 -1 and thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the process.
Later on, they joined the throng at the marquee on the South Lawn for this year’s Late Summer Garden Party. With former and current parents, staff and pupils, it was a very popular affair, with around 250 – 300 people gathering in the sunshine to drink tea, quaff Prosecco and consume lots of fabulous homemade nibbles brought out of the Clayesmore kitchen.
Stands representing each House, the OC Society, the Clayesmore Society, the Prep School, the Prep PA and the Friends of Clayesmore hosted guests, who mingled well into the afternoon. And there was a mini archive of photos from the Prep School and a very large cake, to mark its 90thbirthday.
After a musical interlude provided by the Pipe Band, it was time to draw the raffle then head home.
Clayesmore, in the late summer sunshine, resplendent.
