When in Rome…Clayesmore Pre-Prep & Nursery
Inspired by our Arts Week painting, Rubens’ “A Roman Triumph”, Pre-Prep became Romans and dressed up in togas, headdresses and jewels, ready for their recent visit the Larmer Tree Gardens.
After a little history about the gardens, we loved meeting the beautiful peacocks, which we quickly befriended. We enjoyed looking at the folly buildings, namely the classical temple with its Romanesque architecture, mosaic floor, Roman-style frieze and painted roof.
We then explored the gardens, filled with stunning plants, picturesque ponds, hidden fairy doors and classical statues.
After that, we had a fantastic picnic lunch on the main lawn and then played some games in the afternoon.
A great day, and it didn’t rain!!!
