Visiting artist brings breadth of experience to Clayesmore

We were delighted, last Friday, to welcome Old Clayesmorian, Mike Corica (1998 – 2003) back to School. Now running a successful art gallery in Bournemouth (see link below), he returned accompanied by celebrated, Colombian-born artist, Dairo Vargas.

Dairo kindly gave up some of his time to come down from London to run a workshop with some of our Sixth Form students. After showing them some of his own work and methods in a presentation, he started them off on drawing techniques using charcoal and later they all progressed to a painting workshop.

We are hugely grateful for Dairo giving up his time to come and work with us and to the generosity of Mike for arranging this event for the considerable benefit of the students.

The photo shows (l – r) Mike, Kirsty Mareau-Jones (Head of Art) and Dairo in front of a portrait by Vargas of David Bowie.
