A plethora of top grades for Clayesmore’s GCSE students
A week after celebrating A-Level successes, Clayesmore’s pupils and staff were delighted to learn the GCSE results for 2018.
84% of grades were awarded at 4 or above, significantly higher than the national average, and 29.4% of these were at 7-9 (equivalent to the old A* or A). There were strong performances in all subjects, and students who achieved notable success include Amy (8 x Grade 9, 1 x Grade 8 and 1 x A), Conor (5 x Grade 9, 3 x Grade 8, 1 x Grade 7 and 1 x A), Edward (9 x Grade 9), Oliver (5 x Grade 9, 4 x Grade 8, 1 x A*) and Jessica (6 x Grade 9, 2 x Grade 8, 1 x A* and 1 x B).
This is an incredible achievement for all these students but particularly for Edward who was one of just 278 boys nationally who managed a clean sweep of the top grade.
Head, Jo Thomson, commented that, “We are all incredibly proud of our students who performed so well in these reformed exams.
“We are very excited about welcoming them all back into the Sixth Form in September, and are confident that from these strong foundations, they will go on to achieve further success in their A-Level and BTEC studies in the years ahead.”
