Tasmin and Jack are the winners of Clayesmore Carol Competition

Prep Music Teacher, Mrs Judy Coplan, writes about the first ever Clayesmore Carol Competition:

Prep and Senior Music departments launched an inaugural carol competition this autumn. The judges were very impressed by the volume of entries; over one hundred in total from Years 7 to 9.

Year 8 pupil Tasmin’s carol ‘Our King’ was judged the overall Prep winner, with Jennifer A (Year 7) as runner-up, whilst Jack F in Year 9 was the overall Senior winner. Several other pupils gained ‘highly commended’ places.

Tasmin’s winning carol was performed beautifully by the junior choir at the Junior Carol Service. Tasmin attended junior choir diligently, working hard with the soloists from Year 5, Hester, Daisy, Misha and William, to achieve the performance she wanted from her piece.

Warm thanks go to the Prep and Senior English departments who helped the children produce such impressive lyrics. We plan to run this popular and creative competition again next year.
