Year 6 became activists recently, inspiring all members of the School community to cut back on Single-Use Plastic (SUP). Among their many campaign creations was an interview the pupils filmed with Head of Catering, Mr Church, to get his views and plans on minimising SUP at Clayesmore kitchens.
The recent Year 6 non-fiction English project couldn’t reach any greater heights, focusing as it did on the tallest mountain in the world: Everest. As the culmination of the project, they were lucky enough to have a visit from Charlie Sweeney (Year 6 parent), who was part of a group travelling to Everest Base Camp to take part in scientific research.
Peter Littlewood from the ‘Young Persons Trust for the Environment’ talked to Year 4, Year 6 and the Prep-Prep on Monday 5 February. The pupils enjoyed lively talks and videos on habitats and plastic in the environment, and are preparing for Powerdown Day on 8 March.
