Summer successes in the saddle

Year 11 pupil, Jemima, took advantage of the summer holidays to compete in two prestigious dressage competitions.

The first was the Hartpury Festival of Dressage, Premier League, the only young pony championship in the UK. This event is used by prestigious breeders from all over the world to promote blood lines of horses and ponies. It is not generally an event where a fifteen year old child turns up with her own pony! Nellie was placed sixth, which a remarkable feat for both her and Jemima, it is a measure of their training and potential.

The second event was the British Dressage Youth Home International, held at Moreton in Dorset. Jemima had been selected to ride on her pony Nellie. As this was an international competition, there was much ceremony, complete with flags and all the pomp and circumstance you would expect. Jemima rode as a member of the “Daisy Ducks” team, representing the South West. The team finished a very creditable fourth position.

Well done, Jemima, and we look forward to watching you progress further in your sport this year.
