Year 6 Portia (age 12)

The individual performances were quite impressive.

Prep School

Charlie H qualified for, and competed in, a remarkable 12 events – 50m Front crawl, Butterfly, Breaststroke and Backstroke; 100m Front crawl, Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke and Individual medley; 200m Front crawl, Backstroke and Individual medley. He recorded ten personal best times and made six finals (in the 50m and 100m events). Charlie also gained two Regional times (in the 100m Backstroke and 50m Front crawl) and will compete at the Swim England South West Region Championships in May.

Lottie competed in nine events – 50m Breaststroke, Front crawl and Backstroke; 100m Front crawl, Backstroke and Individual medley; 200m Front crawl, Backstroke and Individual medley. She had a fantastic championships, winning two silvers and three bronze medals. She swam personal best times in eight events, and qualified for the South West Region Championships in the 50m and 100m Backstroke. A special mention must go to Lottie for placing 3rd in ‘Overall Performance for Girls Aged 11’ in the Dorset Championships (there were 33 in total for this age group).

Portia swam the 50m Front crawl in which she came 17th and recorded a personal best time.

The youngest of our competitors, Georgia in Year 5, had a fantastic first ‘Dorsets’. She qualified and competed in two events – 50m and 100m Breaststroke. Not only did she swim personal best times in both events, she also qualified for the finals and just missed 3rd place in the 50m Breaststroke. What a brilliant start to a swimming career for Georgia.

Evie, who is in Year 8 and the Prep School Swim Captain, really enjoyed the experience of the County Championships, having qualified for the 50m Front crawl. She should be very proud of her performance at the 2018 competition.

Senior School

Upper Sixth Former Rebecca, who is the Senior School Swim Captain, has many years of experience competing at the ‘Dorsets’ and this time she competed in five events – both 50m and 100m Backstroke and Front crawl, as well as 200m Backstroke. She came away with two golds and a bronze medal. She also achieved three Regional best times in 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke. Rebecca has qualified for the South West Regionals in May.

Lower Sixth Former Ben F competed in two events – 50m Butterfly and 100m Front crawl. He just missed personal bests, but he has been injured recently so must not be disappointed with his times. Ben placed 9th in the Front crawl and 10th in the Butterfly.

Dorset County Pathway Selections

Following their performance at the 2018 Dorset County Championships, Georgia, Lottie and Charlie have been selected for the Dorset County Pathway development programme. They will attend three training days in April, July and September. The days will consist of two water training sessions, land training and classroom-based workshops. The Dorset pathway aims to develop and nurture the best 11-year-olds in our county, allowing the selected swimmers to develop and enhance skills and knowledge, and to inspire them to achieve their goals.

Many congratulations to Georgia, Lottie and Charlie.

Lottie won 2 silver and 3 bronze medals at Swim England Dorset Championships in February.
