The Clayesmore Season 2016-17

Clayesmore Society Summer Weekend - Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 May

published in February 2017

The Clayesmore Society Summer Weekend for 2017 will follow the now established pattern of Choral Day and Summer Supper Party on the Saturday, with Clayesmore Cormorants Cricket v the School 1st XI on the Sunday.

Choral Day: Starts with coffee in the Chapel at 10am followed by a day of rehearsals (lunch and tea included), culminating in a wonderful concert at 6.30pm. Every year, the choir (consisting of pupils, staff and anyone else who wants to join in) astounds with how much can be achieved in just one day. Come as a singer or to join the audience. There is a lovely supper available to all in the de Selincourt in the evening after the concert, costing £20 per head for three courses, wine and coffee.

Singing programme is as follows:

  • Monteverdi's Beatus Vir (it is the 450th anniversary of Monteverdi's birth this year)

  • Schubert's Mass in G, Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei

  • Fauré's Cantique de Jean Racine

Cricketing Sunday: Gather on the Senior fields as play commences at 11am for the Old Clayesmorian Cormorants side vs the School First XI. School lunch is available or bring a picnic if the weather's nice!
