Senior School’s sensory book for Nursery children

Senior School pupils wanted to design and produce a sensory book for our Nursery children, as part of their textile activity. Presenting the finished article and spreading some early Christmas joy last week were Year 10 pupils Jo-Jo and Libby, pictured here with the Nursery class.

The book is made of different fabrics and other materials, such as Velcro and sequins, to create varying surfaces and textures for the children to feel. Naturally, it is bright and colourful too and has bits and pieces that pop out, to give positive, lively and fun sensations associated with books and reading for our lucky Nursery children.

This book stars a ladybird on its cover – perhaps the sequel will feature our mascot Seymour the Squirrel…
