The School vs The Old Clayesmorians

A couple of weeks’ ago, the girls’ hockey team, which consisted of 1st, 2nd & 3rd team players as well as some U15s, took on a strong OC team on a sunny Sunday morning.

They knew the OCs would prove to be tough opposition as they had ex 1st team captains and players in their line up, and even West of England and GB players, but the girls went out with a confident and positive attitude.

In the first half, both teams played some fast-paced hockey but the OCs really took advantage of their goal-scoring opportunities. The School put up a strong fight in defence, marking well and making some strong tackles to neutralise many of the OCs’ attacks. They created some scoring chances but were unable to convert them, alas.

The girls continued to deal with all the OCs could throw at them in the second half but legs tired into the final stages of the match. Despite this, they fought right to the end whistle and the OCs had to work hard to secure their 3 – 0 victory.

It was a good, fast-paced game and both sides thoroughly enjoyed it. We’ll be back next year!
