Rowan’s Roman Prize

Old Clayesmorian, Rowan Newland (2006 – 11 Wolverton), has just won a very special prize, awarded by The Society for the Protection of Roman Studies, for best PGCE research paper at Cambridge University.

Rowan, who got her degree from Durham, left Homerton College last term and has just started her career at Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh, where she teaches Latin and Classics. She won a cheque for £200 and a year’s free subscription to the Society.

Never one to blow her own trumpet, she didn’t let us know but her proud mother (and our Head of Sixth Form), Sarah-Jane, did.

A great start to what will surely prove a wonderful and fruitful career: well done, Rowan!
