Prep school trio swim their way to National Finals

published in May 2017

The first weekend in May saw three Clayesmore swimmers compete in the Independent Association of Prep Schools' (IAPS) National Swimming Finals in Crawley. Their results were impressive:

Charlie (Y5): 5th in Boys' Under 10 25m Freestyle
Lottie (Y5): 11th in Girls' Under 10 25m Backstroke
Abi (Y8): 11th in Girls' Under 13 50m Backstroke

Swimming Director, Ali Pickford, describes the excitement at the Finals:

1500 pupils from 200 schools took part across the day, so it was a huge competition and great experience for our finalists. Our three qualifiers really stood out in their Clayesmore School swim shirt and hat.

Charlie competed in the morning and after a very confident swim in the heats secured a place in the final, ranked sixth. Only the fastest eight make finals, and Clayesmore have never had a finalist in this event and age group, so a huge result for Clayesmore and well done Charlie! He had a fantastic swim in the finals and came fifth. Lottie and Abi competed in the afternoon. They both swam great races in the heats and came 11th overall. Abi recorded a personal best time. Well done all!
