Prefects in Training
Clayesmore’s Assistant Head, Sixth Form, Mrs SarahJane Newland writes about the new Prefects’ training weekend:
We took our twenty Prefects down to Outposts outdoor leadership education centre in the Quantocks. They had to work out plans to race each other across lakes, direct their teams over lava flows and through a difficult obstacle course, as well as work through a table-top exercise to assimilate and prioritise vast amounts of information in order to project manage a passenger jet with 200 passengers and engine trouble safely home from the Middle East to London.
Throughout these tasks they had to consider all aspects of leadership and teamwork as it applies to being a Prefect at Clayesmore. It was a great 24 hours, and they showed themselves to be an exceptionally determined, cheerful and supportive group of young people.
Michael Kingscote, a former SAS Colonel, who owns and runs the centre, said: “What a complete pleasure it was to have you, Will and the Top Twenty here. On reflection, one of the best Clayesmore Teams I have seen. Some strong independent personalities and a really strong team ethos.”
We wish our student role models every success as they help shepherd us through this academic year.
