OC performance shines for current students
After taking a group of Sixth Form Music Technology students to the Cherubim Youth Musical Festival in Tisbury last week (which featured the work of Old Clayesmorian, Finn Murphy, 2007 – 2015), Mr Andrews sent us this review:
“It was absolutely mind blowing! Along with original compositions from OC Finn and two others from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, we had a stunning performance from BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist, Toril Azzalini-Machecler, who played the snare drum and marimba (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0642jzp).
The electroacoustic compositions made an incredible use of live sampled sounds and creative use of a number of Seaboards that can create a brilliant array of expression. This was also accompanied by spectacular projected visuals behind the artists that reacted to the music while it was being played.
The students had a thoroughly enjoyable experience that was inspiring, thought provoking and motivating, and which they have been talking about since the outing. The sounds and methods used to create the music were truly cutting edge and it was great to see OC Finn leading his team to produce one of the most perfect electroacoustic performances I have witnessed.”
