Musical feast in honour of St Cecilia

The St Cecilia Concert in honour of the patron saint of music has become a Clayesmore tradition. This year’s concert, held on Tuesday 21 November, was a demonstration of the remarkable musical talents of our senior school pupils. It was great to see so many parents present, and this is also a welcome treat to many people in the village of Iwerne Minster to start off the festive season.

The programme was rich and varied, ranging from Schubert’s and Mozart’s Symphonies to to Vivaldi’s ‘Winter’, performed by the School Orchestra, the Chamber Strings and the Wind Quintet. The Choral Society sang Mozart’s ‘Coronation Mass’ accompanied by the Clayesmore Festival Orchestra, and the concert culminated in the magnificent ‘Geistliches Lied’ by Brahms.

This was the debut of the Wind Quintet, which was only formed in September, but played absolutely beautifully together.

There were several exclamations of ‘this was the best one yet!’ among the audience. You can listen to excerpts of the performance below.
