Lower Sixth at Lulworth
Our Head of Art, Mrs Mareau-Jones, tell us about a recent Lower Sixth trip to Lulworth, to work on coastal drawing and painting:
‘The students were encouraged to capture the ‘essence of place’, through observing and recording textures, shapes, lines, tonal qualities and with words.
“They worked in direct contact with the environment which was, at times, quite atmospheric! They worked really hard, challenging their existing knowledge and producing personal and sensitive responses using charcoal, ink, pen, watercolour and various mark-making tools. They also photographed details: seaweed, rock pools and water.
“Everybody enjoyed being on the magnificent Dorset coastline and we, as teachers, were delighted by how our students embraced the experience.”
