Kate hand-picked to experience Chelsea Flower Show
Our Apprentice Gardener, Kate Haskell, currently completing her course at Kingston Maurward at the same time as at enhancing the gardens and grounds of Clayesmore, was nominated by her College to attend the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London at the end of May. As part of this, she had the opportunity to attend a breakfast meeting to celebrate young people in horticulture, which included talks form a variety of guests about their careers in horticulture, including Matthew Keightley, a Chelsea Flower Show medal winner, and Mihkaail Anis Ng from Gardens by the Bay in Singapore.
Kate commented on this remarkable experience: “I’m really grateful to have been given the opportunity to attend the breakfast event. It was an eye-opener to be in a room filled with so much variety and interest around horticulture, from landscapers and designers to the science behind it all, and much more. The speakers shared their unique stories of how they ended up where they are today, which filled me with a sense of excitement about where my path in horticulture may take me. I hope to continue learning and expanding my knowledge whilst working my way up in the industry.”
