A great set of GCSE results for Clayesmore pupils

Following on from last week’s best ever set of A-Level and BTEC results, pupils and staff at Clayesmore were delighted to receive this year’s GCSE grades on Thursday. 82% of results were at A*-C level, well over the national average, with some notable achievements in the new, tougher, Maths, English Language and English Literature examinations. Ofqual’s prediction for students sitting Maths was that only 3% would achieve the top result of a Grade 9, and again Clayesmore bucked the trend with 6% awarded this level.

Among this year’s top performers were: Arthur with 6A*s, 2As, 1×9, 1×8 and 1×7; Olivia with 5A*s, 1×9 and 2x6s; Findlay with 5A*s, 1A, 2Bs, 1×8 and 2×7; Katie with 6A*s, 1B, 1×9, 1×8 and 1×7; Phoebe with 5A*s, 2x9s, 1×7 and a B; Igor with 7A*s, 1A, 1×9 and 2×6; Olivia with 5A*s, 1A and 3x8s and Tabitha with 2x9s, 2A*s, 4As and 1×6.

Speaking today the Head, Mrs Jo Thomson, said that she was delighted with this set of results which were testament to the hard work of students, coupled with the excellent teaching and individual attention which they received.

With the vast majority of the cohort returning to study in Clayesmore’s Sixth Form in September, the school is confident of some great results from their A-Levels and BTECs in due course.
