Golf Day proves a great Remedy against autumn chills

The Clayesmore Society/Old Clayesmorian Society Golf Day was held yesterday and, as always, it proved a hugely enjoyable event.

For the third year in a row, we were lucky enough to be hosted by the splendid Remedy Oak golf club, near Wimborne, and our sold out day saw five teams of varying abilities vying for glory. In contention were a number of prizes, not least the Iwerne Cup (winnable by any player) and the Old Clayesmorian Trophy (winnable only by an OC).

After weeks of downpours, we were truly blessed with a dry day and early coffees and bacon rolls, followed by welcome, warming lunch time soup, helped see off the autumnal chills.

As last time, we had OCs, sons, brothers and fathers of OCs, current and former parents, staff members and two current pupils, Henry and Xander, who represented Devine in fine form.

After a long day on the course, the players assembled in the clubhouse for prizegiving and supper. This year’s winner of the Iwerne Cup was Gate’s Mr Westlake and the Old Clayesmorian Golf Trophy by (a very surprised) Matt Grant (Manor, 1996)!

The House prize was won, yet again, by Wolverton, so the girls can look forward to another photo op with Estates’ own Gary Weldon, who will present them with vast amounts of sweets and chocolates in due course.

Well done to all who took part and made it such fun and our big thanks to David and all the team at Remedy Oak, who always look after us so well: we had a great time.
