Georgie’s trip to the US Inauguration

Following her impressive performance at the Global Young Leaders Conference last summer, Year 13 student and school prefect, Georgina, was invited to attend last week’s momentous presidential inauguration ceremony in Washington DC. Writing about the event, Georgina said:

“This trip was the most challenging and thought provoking thing I have ever done in my life. I loved it. Being able to witness history, no matter what your political preference, race or gender, is incredible and I am proud to say I tolerated the Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.

Other than the Inauguration I was able to witness some incredible speakers. These included Colin Powell, Spike Lee, Malala, and Ziauddin Yousafzai. It was incredible to see such inspirational people speak all giving their own unique perspectives on contemporary issues. My favorite speaker was Abby Wambach, an American retired soccer player, coach, two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. She was truly inspirational and passionate about her subject matter.”
