A taste of the life scientific for GCSE scientists

Senior School Biology Teacher, Mrs Jessica Willoughby, writes:

A group of seven Year 11 pupils attended an exciting ‘Lesser-spotted Scientists’ day at the Maths and Technology department of Oxford University on Thursday which was aimed at top GCSE students with intentions of studying A-Levels in the area of Maths and Sciences. 

They spent the day in taster lectures on a range of subjects including; Ethics & Philosophy in Modern Science, Earth Science, Materials Science, Engineering, Biomedicine & Biological Sciences. 

They also enjoyed a tour of Somerville college and the famous Bodleian library, as well as hearing about the typical life of a student and the application process to Oxford University.
