County Success for Clayesmore Girls

The first half of the Autumn Term has been successful for Clayesmore girls, led by the Head of Girls’ Games Miss Andrea Cheverton.

Following an exciting Tournament on 10 October, Clayesmore’s U19 Netball Team are the North Dorset Champions for the fourth time. This qualifies them for the County Finals which take place next month. The girls played six matches in total, against Blandford, Bryanston, Gillingham, St Mary’s, Sherborne and Sturminster Newton High School, winning them all. The champion team members are Maya M, Amelia S, Phoebe W, Jenny S, Alex McK, Abi M Ellie B, Ellie L and Asia J.

On the same day, the U14 girls’ Hockey squad reached the semi-finals of the County Hockey tournament, where they faced a tough Sherborne team. The girls put up a great fight and it certainly wasn’t an easy victory for Sherborne. Our team were runners-up in their pool. The girls played with real determination throughout, and considering that they had only been playing together for four weeks made their performance even more impressive. The squad consists of Year 9 girls Flora A, Ella B, Leah C, Katie D, Abi F, Tarka H, Flora H, Liberty I, Georgia L, Anna P, Caroline S, Vega S, Fiona T and Livi W.

Congratulations to both teams, and we wish the U19 Netball team every success in next month’s Dorset County Finals.
