Clayesmore U14 Cricketers make the County Cup Finals!

Clayesmore’s U14 Cricketers attended the ESCA County Cup finals against Sherborne School this week.
The boys approached the game fantastically; a great warm up and positive team talk really set the standard for the first hour of the game.  Restricting Sherborne to 13 for 3 wickets then 17 for 4, had Karl. S pacing around the boundary in pure excitement.
Sherborne then had a very good partnership enabling them to scramble up to 65 for 5, then 70 for 7.  Then the turning point in the innings, a dropped catch, their main player. They knew this from their reactions, however, Lewis B tried his hardest to motivate the team Sherborne piled on the runs and managed to set 211.
The second innings started well, 30 for 0 wickets, however, a trickle of wickets at regular intervals scuppered our chances of mounting a real charge.
The boys should be very proud of their achievements this year – it’s the second year running they have made the final.  They are very eager to go one better next year and bring home a winners’ medal.
