Commendations for Clayesmore’s creative writers

Two of our pupils, Abi (Year 9) and Tabitha (Year 11), were celebrating in the last week of term after receiving ‘Highly Commended’ awards for their short stories in the St Mary’s School Born to Write competition.

Judged by the school’s librarian, Min Edwards, and former Booker Prize judge, Fay Weldon, the girls’s were part of over sixty entries from local schools and attended a presentation event last week with Head of English, Mrs Harriet Perrett, to hear the outcome of their entries, both of which were written on the theme of ‘Relationships’. Congratulations to Abi and Tabitha.
