Clayesmorians crowned County Schools Athletics Champions

Athletics Dorset Schools County champions George, Josh, Alex and Tim

Clayesmore enjoyed a super-Saturday on the Athletics tracks and fields last weekend.

At the Dorset Schools Athletics Championships held at Kings Park in Bournemouth, five Clayesmore pupils emerged as County Champions, four from the Senior School and one from the Prep:

Tim (12) in the Senior Boys’ Triple Jump
George (Y12) in the Senior Boys’ 800 metres
Alex (Y12) in the Senior Boys’ 1500 metres
Josh S (Y9) in the Junior Boys’ 800 metres
Neo (Y7) in the U12 200 metres. Neo also won a silver medal in the 100 metres.

Other Clayesmorians did well, too – the following Senior students achieved second places:
Jack (Y12) in the Senior Boys’ Long Jump
Tabitha (Y12) in the Senior Girls’ Shot
Amy (Y11) in the Intermediate Girls’ Triple Jump and 1500 metres

And in the Prep School, Simba (Y7) picked up a bronze medal in the shot put and Maddison (Y7) narrowly missed out on a medal in the 1500 metres.

At Junior Wessex Athletics (for prep years 3 to 5) held on the same day, Clayesmore also won a medal with Ned in Year 4 taking the bronze in the 55m hurdles.

We turn our sights next to the South West Schools Championships tomorrow at Exeter Arena, where Josh, Alex, Tim and Amy have been selected to represent Dorset.

Well done to all the athletes, and good luck to the runners and jumpers in Exeter!
