Clayesmore’s Young Enterprise teams grab the lion’s share of Dragons’ Den investment
Two Young Enterprise companies made up of Year 12 students attended the annual Dragons’ Den event on Tuesday, hosted this year by Sherborne Girls school. Both teams were successful in their bids, together scooping three quarters of the investment money the Dragons had available. Teacher of Business, Georgina Penny, writes:
“The two Clayesmore companies, TIME and JigDraw, had to deliver a presentation about their product or service. There were nine companies from various schools around the region, who were all competing for a maximum investment of £200 from the Dragons.
“Callum, the MD of TIME, led his team very successfully and delivered a superb presentation about their business. They are a social enterprise, raising awareness of Meningitis among young adults. They secured 1st place at the event and £120 of the investment money.
“Tiegan James is the MD of JigDraw, the team being praised on their idea and their successful sales so far. JigDraw are selling blank jigsaws, made using the D&T facilities, to their target market of 2 to 7 -year-olds. They were also very successful on the evening, managing to gain 3rd place and being awarded £30 investment.
“I am so pleased with both teams’ effort and we are excited about the showcase event in March.”
