Clayesmore’s writers are “Wicked”

Following on from the news that two Clayesmore Prep pupils have made it through to the second round of the BBC 500 words competition, two senior pupils have received news that their own work has been highly commended in writing competitions.

Year 10 pupil Ben’s poem ‘I’m (not) Afraid of You’ has been selected for publication in The Young Writer’s Anthology in the Poetry Games competition. This is the 27th year that the competition has been run and it received in excess of 6,000 entries. Ben’s work will be published in The Poetry Games – South West London later in the term.

This week we have heard that Year 12 pupil, Tiegan has been selected as a finalist for the Wicked Young Writer Awards 2018 for her piece ‘Redemption’.  This year the competition received over 4,000 entries, and being selected as one of the 20 category finalists is a huge achievement. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 21 June at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London. At the ceremony, winning entries will be read out by members of the Wicked cast and will be joined by the author of the How to Train Your Drago series Cressida Cowell. Tiegan’s piece will also be published in an anthology and online.

Our congratulations to them both.
