Clayesmore’s U14A boys are one of the best hockey teams in the West

The boys’ coach, Mr Chris Middle, writes:

“The U14A hockey team had another good week this week. Having won the County championships a few weeks ago, they qualified for a regional preliminary tournament. They played other qualifying teams from the Channel Islands (Elizabeth College), Cornwall (Truro School) and Devon (Exeter School). The team played some really good hockey to win the tournament with a couple of wins and a draw, finishing with a goal difference of +19 from the three games!

“This means they have now qualified for the West of England Regional Tournament, where they will make up the final eight teams remaining in the competition from all the counties in the west of England. No Clayesmore boys’ team has ever made it this far which highlights just how hard they have worked this term. I am sure we will all wish them good luck as they head off to Millfield on the 15 March.”
