Clayesmore Service of Confirmation

Twenty-four Clayesmore pupils from both Prep and Senior year groups were confirmed in a special service held in Clayesmore’s Chapel this weekend. The candidates had been prepared by the school’s Chaplain, Mr Andrew West, the Service was officiated by the Right Reverend Karen Gorham, Bishop of Sherborne and all were supported by friends, family and other members of staff.

In her Sermon, the Bishop spoke of the difference between private prayer and public acts, and how life in public needs careful thought and preparation, that Confirmation is a lifestyle choice that those present had made to be part of the fellowship of the church, as public witnesses for God. The service marked the beginning of an ongoing private and public faith which meant that from now on they would be a part of the global church, and would always be able to gather with other Christians to find sustenance and grow in faith, able to bring transformation to the world.
