The Clayesmore Prep quiz team soared to victory at the Junior Schools’ Challenge regional competition this week, earning them a well-deserved place in the forthcoming inter-regional rounds. Charlie, James, Billy and Zain won every round with a combination of quick-fire answers and a measured team approach. Schools’ Challenge is the national general knowledge competition for schools in the United Kingdom. It uses the same rules as University Challenge.

The team got off to a flying start in their first match against Walhampton School which finished with a convincing win of 250-100. They went on to beat Ballard School (360-90) and Bournemouth School for Girls ‘A’ (260-130)  before playing a semi-final against The Pilgrim’s School ( 360-220) and clinching victory in the final round against Bournemouth School for Girls ‘B’ (400-230). Sue Sims, who organises the national Junior Schools’ Challenge competition said in her closing remarks that Clayesmore Prep’s outstanding performance throughout the rounds made them worthy winners.
