More Able and Enrichment

Allowing every child to fulfil his or her potential is at the core of our values. Clayesmore’s staff and governors are therefore committed to supporting and developing excellent provision for every child’s progress and achievement at school, as manifested in our rich and varied curriculum.

Our More Able and Enrichment programme provides enhanced learning opportunities and further breadth in academic areas and in other aspects of school life, such as sport, music and the arts. For those children who are achieving at a level above their peers, we ensure that provision is made to develop and practise higher-order learning. This could be within lessons or beyond; some examples of which are our maths extension programme, Japanese lessons and the creative writing challenges that take place throughout the year.

Pupils’ achievements are nurtured and celebrated, both in the classroom and throughout the school, thereby fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high attainment. Our programme complements the school’s Attitudes to Learning initiative which encourages our pupils to become more inspired in their learning and to acquire the skills to become lifelong learners.

We have a designated More Able, Talented and Enrichment (MAT-E) co-ordinator, Mrs Sarah Hart, who oversees and promotes a broad and challenging curriculum throughout the school. Clayesmore Prep School is a member of NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education), showing consistent commitment to provision for more able and talented pupils in school.
